Ghosts waken up their past living characters, their tragedies, their love and misfortune. Death is the guiding line to this opera delirium, where tragedy and comedy walk hand in hand, evocating great opera repertoire.

Opera in the street
to surprise everyone
Ópera na Rua is a street opera Festival with free entrance, presented in urban settings of typical neighbourwoods, in the heart of Lisbon city with a strong connection to its comunity, invited to participate. This project was created by Opera do Castelo for Santa Maria Maior parish in the Summer of 2015, with the veristic opera Paglicci by Leoncavallo in a Portuguese version to reach directly its native audience . In 2016, Daggers & Fights an opera show presenting highly dramatic and realistic opera scenes.
The overwhelming opera emotion in a unique experience, in the heart of the city, right in the middle of the neighbourwood, in the middle of the street!

It’s very important to present repertoire with some kind of bound with the place and people we want to reach. For very intensive neighbourwoods, very realistic operas, that could really take place there!
Music, theatre and the lyrical singing intensity are very strong opera ingredients that move people to an emotional higher level, very effective to reach directly the heart of all kinds of tastes and audiences.

The Opera production company, based in Lisbon, directed by the soprano Catarina Molder and the producer Nuno Barroso , aims at bringing the passion of opera to everyone in many different formats including the audi-visual. To fulfill the crucial mission of reaching new audiences, Opera do Castelo has been launching innovative opera projects based on artistic and aesthetic concepts that combine tradition and contemporaneity, exploring the inter - disciplinarity power of this art form with daring creativity into the 21st century. It has presented opera in unexpected venues from discos, to public monuments and emblematic districts in the historic centre of Lisbon, as well as creating Opera Urban Festivals and the acclaimed TV series Super Diva- Opera Para Todos, presently in pre-production of its 3rd series.
